FINALLY. Tittsworth has been blasting my various social network NewsFeeds with tons of super kind words about Two Strokes Raw, his latest EP that’s due for official release tomorrow on Beatport by Plant Music. Titts collaborated with Alvin Risk to produce his first release since he dropped 12 Steps in 2008. All I was hearing were words of praise like, “Bigger than the sun!” from Plump DJs and “This is amazing!” from Brodinski. It got me all sorts of hyped on the inside, naturally. So Titts, bein’ super generous and all, decided to let us stream the EP a day early.
If you’re a moombahton fan already, you probably already know “Pendejas”. It’s already giving me sweaty flashbacks from the video shoot at Tropixxx. GOOD GOD. Anyway, “La Campana” has been played at some moombahton parties I’ve been to and I had NO IDEA it was a Tittsworth joint. Shit! Maluca has this sweet voice at times and then it turns into this pretty hyperactive moombahton track. I love it. ”Porcacheese” reminds me less of a moombahton track as it progresses and turns into something I’d listen to if I were in a rush to get home and needed to put the pedal to the floor. Some real Fast & Furious shit. Ya feel me?! Then “Carta Boost”…I mean, Scottie B’s on that one?! Can’t go wrong. It just can’t. Plus it’s got these funky dial tone samples and that one noise you used to hear way back when you had a real landline phone and you dialed a number that wasn’t service and it goes “Doo-Doo-DOO! We’re sorry…” Some wild shit’s goin’ on in that track.
So now I’m really pumped for Saturday night at U Hall. Not only does The Rapture officially begin, but we get to celebrate by listening to Tittsworth, Alvin Risk, and Scottie B play records all night while we eat pork belly donut sammiches. SEE YOU THERE OR ELSE.
